Triple Century for Arundel CC

The history of Arundel Cricket Club is lost in the mists of time. The earliest record of cricket of Arundel is in the Goodwood estate accounts of 1702. The first Duke of Richmond paid one and sixpence for Brandy when his men “Plaid at cricket with Arundel men.”

The earliest mention of Arundel playing as a club is in the Sussex Weekly Advertiser promoting a match against East Sussex played at the Henfield Common on 21st September 1764.

When the cricket pavilion was built in 1884, the Duke of Norfolk made a generous donation to ensure the roof was made of thatch.

In 1977 when the Sussex Invitation Cricket League was formed, Arundel was one of the ten founder members. The first league match, played in May 1979 between Arundel and Broadwater, was interrupted by snow. Before the Sussex Invitation Cricket League formed, Arundel played in the Sussex Championship League.

300 Years Later...

Over three centuries of cricket at our beautiful ground, and the Club has never been stronger. With both the 1st XI and 2nd XI competing each Saturday in the Sussex Invitation League, a 3rd XI team imminent, a Club XI on Sundays,a number of popular midweek games, the Chairman's XI fixture at Arundel Castle versus The Duke of Norfolk's XI, over 100 colts between 7 and 14, and a fantastic family atmosphere, our fourth century looks to be as exciting as ever!!!!

New pitch covers, electronic scoreboard, brand new outdoor cricket and state of the art new outdoor double bay cricket nets, the 2007 season will see yet more improvements to ACC.
